As part of the Disaster-Ready University initiatives, a “Disaster Awareness Training” was organized by the Bartın Provincial Disaster and Emergency Directorate to contribute to raising individuals who are conscious and prepared for disasters. The training was held on March 3, 2026, at the Library Building Conference Hall, with the participation of our faculty’s students and staff.

During the training delivered by personnel of the Directorate, participants were provided with comprehensive information on:

• Individual preparedness for disasters and emergencies
• Precautionary measures to be taken before a disaster
• Appropriate behavior during a disaster
• Post-disaster actions and recovery processes

In addition, the importance of increasing social awareness and public consciousness regarding disasters was strongly emphasized.

The program, which was followed with great interest by participants, highlighted that the ability to make accurate and rapid decisions in disaster situations is of vital importance. It was also noted that educating students as disaster-aware individuals would make a significant contribution to overall social resilience. Certificates of participation were awarded to the students and staff who attended the training.

At the end of the program, appreciation was expressed to the personnel of the Bartın Provincial Disaster and Emergency Directorate for their contributions. A certificate of appreciation was presented by the Dean of our Faculty, Prof. Dr. Handan Ucun Özel.

The event was successfully completed, contributing to increased disaster awareness and the development of appropriate behavioral skills among participants.
